Planning for the Fourth Trimester
Mama, I know that birth can feel scary, and not just because of the labor.
Rates of postpartum depression, prolapse, and divorce are all sky-high. But that doesn’t mean you have to walk into the fourth trimester expecting the worst.
Postpartum care is necessity- not a luxury- for mothers and families to thrive.
In this 10-hour class, you will be taken in depth into the physiological needs of the postpartum body, preparing you for rest, recovery, and true bonding with your new baby.
Connect with local birth and postpartum resources
Create and strengthen community support networks
Develop a postpartum plan that meets the unique needs of you and your family
Mother-centered care for family wellness, rooted in revitalized community support
Known as the Cuarentena in Mexico, the Golden Month in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and The Sacred Window in Ayurveda, the first 6 weeks after the birth of a baby is recognized around the world is being essential to avoid depletion and maintain health.
By planning properly for the postpartum period, families can be prepared to fully support the new mother-baby dyad. Adequate, physiological care can reduce rates of perinatal mood disorders, increase healthy attachment in babies, ease breastfeeding challenges, prevent pelvic organ prolapse, prevent autoimmune disorders, and speed physical recovery.
This course is designed to be taken by pregnant individuals AND members of their support systems (partners, friends, family, etc.) so that parents can focus on integration of the information and not tasked with also disseminating the knowledge.
Class will be held online over five weeks; attendance of all classes strongly recommended. You may join us in-person if you are in Missoula, MT, or virtually via zoom from elsewhere. Class will not be recorded.
